Description |
Gold metal hydrometer in a wood case with a hinged lid. See below for details. 1957.164.1a: gold hydrometer that consists of a large ball with a long cylindrical shaft (13.5cm) on the top and a short tapered shaft with a teardrop shaped weight on the bottom (shaft: 4.5cm, weight: 2cm). The shaft on top has 51 horizontal lines on the frornt. Every fifth line is numbered. The numbers station at 725 at the top and increase by five the until 775 at the top of the ball. The reverse of the shaft has the manufacturer's information and model number engraved. 1957.164.1b: Light brown rectangle wooden box with a hinged lid and two swinging arm latches on the front. The top of the box has an inset white label that has "No: 801/Peterleometer/725 to 775/L.Oertling London" in black text. The front of the lid has two small pins for the latches to hook around and secure the lid. The front of the bottom of the box has two sickle-shaped latches (one on each side). The reverse of the box has a small hinge on each side. The interior of the box has a cavity in the top and bottom for the hydrometer to lay. The interior is covered with a black fabric |
