Description |
Small silver "Sun Ray" carbide lamp. The lamp has a tarnished round reflector on the front with a small nozzle in the centre and a flint wheel on the lower right. The body of the lamp is comprised of a water chamber on the top that tapers to a round carbide chamber on the bottom (has a slightly smaller diameter than the water chamber). The reverse of the reflector has a small knob attached to the flint wheel to rotate the flint wheel. The top of the water chamber has a small, round hinged water door and a long switch that rotates into an on or off position. The top also has "ON", "OFF", and the numbers 1-10 as well as the brand name "Sun Ray" in raised lettering. In the centre of the brand name is an image of a sun with a face and rays radiating outwards. There is a textured band around the exterior of the carbide chamber. The manufacturer’s and patent information is engraved on the bottom of the lamp (see inscription). A small metal is attached to the reverse of the lamp for attaching the lamp to the user’s helmet. |
