Description |
Dark metal miner's candlestick/sticking tommy. Candlestick is comprised of a long horizontal spike with a looped handle on the right side that turns into a candle holder. The candle holder is a 3.4cm vertical round, cylindrical attachment on the front of the spike. The reverse of the candle attachment has a 3cm extension on the left side (right side if looking at it from the front). The candle attachment is 4 cm to the left of the handle. There is a 7 cm tall hook attached to the reverse of the spike that would be used to attach the candleholder to a miner's hat or helmet. |

Used by miners in 1900. Sticking Tommies would be worn underground on a miners hat (usually leather or fabric based) than stuck into the rock face while the miners were working. |
