Description |
Tan ceramic tea set that is made up of a small teapot, six cups, and two saucers. See below for individual artifact details. 1990.7.1a: Tan ceramic teapot with dark brown Chinese character and other designs. There is a wicker handle that is attached to the sides. 1990.7.1b: teapot lid 1990.7.1c-h: small tan cups (no handle) with brown designs/Chinese characters. Varying degrees of condition. Some have visible repairs. 1990.7.1i-j: small ceramic saucer with red patterning on the rim. The manufacturer's mark on the bottom (see inscription). |
Provenance |
Owned by an elderly Chinese man that lived in the Chinese Masonic Lodge/Hall until it was torn down in the 1950s. The tea set was left wrapped in a Chinese newspaper on the doorstep of the donor (thought to have been a thank you for being kind and helping him throughout the years). |
