Description |
Slide of a black and white photograph of a section of Sourdough Alley in 1895. There are only buildings on the left side of the packed dirt road. All the buildings are wood and feature different bakeries (thus the name of the alley). Some of the businesses include Kellem’s Short Order House and Boss Bakery. There is another business with a business sign at the front of the alley, but their sign is cut off, but should read "Rossland Bakery and Restaurant". A wooden sidewalk is in front of the building and there are several people on the sidewalk leaning against the buildings or walking/sitting. Several houses are visible on the hill above the bakeries. "Alley, Rossland. BC 809 - S. J. Thompson. Photo. New Westminster B.C" is in white lettering along the bottom of the image. |
