The second floor has a door in the centre with windows on either side and a covered patio. The name of hotel is on a large sign above the patio’s awning. There are six people standing or sitting on the patio and ten standing or sitting in front of the hotel. Provenance |
The St. Charles Hotel was located on Columbia Avenue, and like most other hotels in early Rossland, it was built in response to the gold boom in the late 1890s. In 1898, the hotel was reported to have a bar, dining room, club room, four bathrooms, and fourteen bedrooms as well as 23 additional beds in the attic. There was also an adjoining hall. The last time the St. Charles Hotel made an appearance in the directories was 1910, but it is unknown exactly when or why the hotel stopped operating. |
