Provenance |
The Black Bear Mine operated from 1893 to 1917 as part of the Le Roi Mine group. The Black Bear was a horizontal adit that connected with the Le Roi Mine main shaft. The Black Bear recovered 176 oz gold, 318 oz silver, and 9290 lb of copper. As part of the Rossland Museum's Centennial Project, the Black Bear Mine Adit was reopened to be part of the Museum's tourism offerings. The Museum ran seasonal mine tours from 1967/68 until 2009 when the mine was closed. The tunnel entrance was collapse in 2011/2012. Visitors to the Museum are still able to see where the entrance was, although it is fenced off for safety reasons. |
