Description |
Glass plate advertising slide from Henderson's Livery in Rossland. The slide has a thick black border (paint on the reverse of the slide), with a clear, transparent window in the centre where the advertisement is. The left side of the advertisement has a graphic of a man inspecting an automobile engine with a woman looking on. The man is standing hunched over the left side of the automobile looking into the open hatch of the engine, with a hand holding his chin in contemplation. He is wearing striped pants and a long-sleeved shirt. The man is partially bald with sweat droplets depicted. There are various tools on the ground around the man’s feet that include a saw and hammer. The woman is standing behind the automobile looking at a setting sun (there is a sun with a down arrow above it). The "American Photo Slide Co." is in small black lettering under the left corner of the graphic. "WHEN you get started" is in large black lettering in the top right corner of the advertisement. "drive to our garage for.", "Permanent Repairing", and "Let us keep Your car in order" are in different fonts to the right of the graphic. "Henderson's Livery Ford Agency Coal, Wood and Ice" is in a variety of fonts across the bottom of the advertisement. The left side of the border has a five-point gold star in a circle with "American Photo-Slide Co" beside it (vertically along the side of the slide). The right side has "Los Angeles San Fernando Building" in gold lettering. There is textured tape around the exterior of the slide. |

Henderson's Livery was operated in Rossland by M.A. Henderson during the first half of the 20th century. The business went by different names throughout its history including Henderson's Livery and the Henderson Bros. Recovered from a dumpster by the donor. |
