Provenance |
Civilian gas masks were issued by the A.R.P. during WWII as part of Canada's home defense strategy. A.R.P. groups around the country train civilians on what to do during an air raid. The Rossland Civilian Protection Committee was formed on July 31, 1941, of which the A.R.P. (Air Raid Precautions) was a significant component. The A.R.P. trained and educated Rosslanders what to do in the event of an attack. The group held blackout drills and trained members in first aid and firefighting. The Rossland Court House was chosen to serve as an emergency hospital if needed. There are associated records for the Rossland Civilian Protection Commitee and the Rossland A.R.P. in the City of Rossland Fond (MS 55). |
